Jumper dies after leap onto PATH tracks near Journal Square station in Jersey City

Monday March 16, 2009, 12:19 PMA jumper from the Summit Avenue bridge just outside the Journal Square PATH train station in Jersey City died this morning, officials have confirmed. .
Port Authority confirmed that a person leaped on to the PATH train tracks from the Summit Avenue bridge at 11:45 a.m. this morning.
The person was pinned under a westbound PATH train, said Port Authority spokesman Ron Marisco.
Train service between Journal Square and 34th Street Penn Station and Grove Street and Newark has been suspended, Marisco said.
The Jersey Journal’s Charles Hack reports that commuters at the Journal Square PATH Station are being turned away from the trains because of the ongoing investigation.
Commuters are being told to take a bus to the Grove Street PATH station and get the train from there.
PATH workers are also telling commuters service is expected to resume by about 1:30 p.m.

[UPDATE - March 18, 2009] – The man has been ID’d by the authorities. His name is Keith S. Wells, 26, of Pavonia Avenue in Jersey City. Incident has been ruled a suicide. Source: Hudson News.

MARCH 17, 2009 – According to this news, the next of kin hadn’t been notified yet, therefore authorities would not identify the man who committed suicide (27-year-old Jersey City resident)
I know this man, his name is Keith. We meet at a previous job.
Very down to earth guy, soft spoken, easy to work with, had great talent and optimistic.
I’m having a hard time understand way? RIP :cry:
VERY sad. He suffered from depression according to friends.
He was a great guy and will be sorely missed.
