Jersey City receives funds to repave Newark Avenue and Sip Avenue. Last year (May 2008), Sip Avenue and other portions of Journal Square were ripped up, and got a facelift (new asphalt). This time, the other side of Sip Avenue (West of JSQ) will be improved. I hope they extend it to West Side Avenue because the drive there is just terrible, especially the portion of TWIN City just past the Fire Station.
As for Newark Avenue, I don’t know why it is slated for another road construction because it was already repaved just last October.
This new funds however, will extend Newark repaving to Coles Street in Downtown, Jersey City.
…The project — which applies specifically to Sip Avenue between Kennedy Boulevard and Bergen Avenue and Newark Avenue between Tonnelle Avenue and Coles Street — will also include installation of handicapped curb ramps, replacement of catch basins, and installation of bicycle-safe grates…
