This car accident happened yesterday (June 19, 2009) morning around 7:30AM according to the news at the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Academy Street, south-east of Journal Square PATH Station. (Map)
A police cruiser with all alarms on (sirens, lights) driven by 33-year old Jersey City Officer Marc L. Gigante was hit by a 2007 Honda when he was approaching Academy Street.
The driver of Honda – Patricia D. Moscoso, said she didn’t see the the patrol car when she was turning west to Academy Street.
Both suffered pains and were taken to different hospitals.

Moscoso, 51, of Bayonne, slammed into the front of his police car, reports said. Moscoso said she was heading west on Academy and she didn’t see the patrol car, reports said.
Gigante was taken to Christ Hospital complaining of neck pain and Moscoso was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center complaining of chest pain, reports said… Source: Jersey Journal

i knew it. i saw lots of police activity and kept checking the jj for info. I’m happy both the officer and driver are ok
I took the Bergen Avenue Friday; Could’ve seen the scene if I took the Summit Avenue. (I avoid it during the morning rush hour, traffic is unbearable)
JJ is sometimes inconsistent — sometimes they release news a day after an incident, sometimes they publish on time.
