
Today, the new No. 6 Bus route begins operating and it will connect more Jersey City residents with the Journal Square area. Also called the “Lafayette Loop,” No. 6 bus will connect the Lafayette neighborhood and a section of Garfield Avenue with the Journal Square area, closing what NJ Transit believes is a gap in service.
According to NJ Transit website, No. 6 bus departs from Platform C-1 of Journal Square.

Bus Route No. 6 – New Weekday Schedule Effective Monday, June 29, 2009
Issued: June 19, 2009
Effective Monday, June 29, additional weekday service will operate on the No. 6 route, including more service to Hudson County Plaza, the Lafayette neighborhood, the Metropolitan Health Clinic on Garfield Avenue and the Garfield Avenue and Liberty State Park Hudson-Bergen Light Rail Stations.
Trip times on the current Ocean Avenue schedule will be adjusted. Please see a timetable for details.
Between Journal Square, Hudson County Plaza, and The Junction (Communipaw Avenue/Summit Avenue/Grand Street) service will operate four times per hour during peak periods and twice an hour during off-peak periods. During the midday, service will operate twice an hour.
The new service to the Lafayette neighborhood and a section of Garfield Avenue will operate twice an hour during peak periods and hourly during the midday. The route will operate in a loop within the Lafayette neighborhood. Please see the map below.
