
Former Jersey City council candidate Jimmy King, front, and current Hudson County Affirmative Action Officer Edward Cheatam, in jeans, are handcuffed and walked to a bus this morning outside FBI headquarters in Newark. The two are among dozens of people arrested today in a wide-ranging corruption probe.
Journal Square resident Jimmy King was one of the 44 people arrested by the feds this morning for alleged corruption. Just a few of weeks ago, King filed a lawsuit against Ward C councilwoman Nidia Lopez challenging her residency.
Here’s why King was arrested, according to PolitickerNJ.com:
…According to a federal complaint, a cooperating witness was introduced to King by two unnamed people – a consultant and Jersey City official involved with the Housing Authority and school board. They allegedly agreed to accept $5,000 on behalf of king for help with zoning changes for a Garfield Avenue property if he was elected to the council…
