Jersey City News: PC Tech School – CLOSED!

In about two weeks time, the school will start. But PCTech – a medical training school on Bergen Avenue, Jersey City – remains closed due to unpaid rent, and is facing eviction.

Last May, I wondered if this school is a rip off because it made the news frontpage when some students complained about the former recruiter who allegedly stole money from them.

This morning’s news implies that PC Tech is facing financial difficulties as it hasn’t paid rent for several months now. However, school’s founder and director Mana “Soma” Somalingam still continued the school’s operation until it finally closed yesterday (Monday).

From the news: “Where are we going to go next?” asked Carmen James, 45, who was scheduled to graduate in March. “I don’t want to waste another five months of my life.”

While the school continued to receive money from students, several school staff “had complained that they were not getting paid.”

More from the news: Student Desha Smalls, 24, said she is convinced the administration knew something was wrong, but that nobody told the students.

If this is how things are going to be, all I can say is good riddance, PC Tech! I’d be surprised if students receive refunds of their tuition and fees.
