Agency Holiday Closings in Journal Square, Jersey City

In this post you’ll find the list of some of the government agencies holiday closing/business hours for the new year. For those who are “lazy to read” (LTR), here’s a short summary: Most offices are open on New Year’s eve with limited services, and all of them are closed on New Year’s Day.

Short Details: Post office will be open Thursday, but closed on Friday. DMV/MVC – closed on New Year, SSA open except Federal Holiday, therefore, they are also closed on New Year.

POST Offices

December 31 (New Year’s Eve) – open (early collection of mails, though). You have to drop your mails/letters in the blue collection mailboxes before 12 noon.
January 1st (New Year) – Closed, no delivery

DMV/MVC Jersey City

December 31 (New Year’s Eve) - regular business hours including inspection stations scheduled for late evening hours until 7 p.m. See list of providers for late night schedule.
January 1 (New Year’s Day) - closed
January 2 (Saturday) - inspection stations only open
