How is the snow situation in your area? Did you get out of your house, or just sleep it off?
I managed to walk around (Bergen Av from Academy to Sip then back), and it wasn’t easy: the strong gust of wind blew the snow right to my face, not to mention the deep accumulations on the streets.
There were only a few people walking on the streets, and the first group I saw was the young teenagers building snowmen in front of Martin Luther King, Jr. School (PS-11).

They had been there for 15 minutes when I talked to them. They were finishing up after I took their picture. On my way back, they were walking north of Bergen Avenue and they said they destroyed the snowmen when I asked if they finished. “We were just having fun.” said the young gentleman when I asked them why.

Most of the local businesses were closed. Jersey City’s one and only 7-11 is open, as well as a few delis and lottery stores were open though.

This group of gentlemen were enjoying their hot coffee which is perfect for this cold weather.

Very quiet here on Sip Avenue.

A lady walked past the yellow cabs parked in front of the vacant lot — future site of the twin tower.

Academy Street residents shoveling the front of their house and apartments.

My neighbor on Tuers Avenue using his snow blower to clear off the sidewalk.

Nice pix! I live on West Side between Sip and Stuyvesant. I looked out my back window and saw a snowman in my neighbor’s yard. I’m at the point where I hate snow but it kind of warmed my heart to see that!
Sip Ave is a nightmare when it snows. Last December when we got that last snowstorm, I was on the bus making its way up the hill and it started sliding a little. I know it would be an inconvenience, but they should really send the bus up Montgomery Avenue instead of Sip. It’s not as steep!
