The Jersey Journal (JJ) reported this morning that a small portion of south-bound lane of John F. Kennedy Boulevard is closed due to construction, but also noted that there was no actual repair being done.
“…The right lane on the southbound side of Kennedy as you approach the ramp to Routes 1&9 is closed for what appears to be some sort of road work. But the thing that has to have drivers chapped is that as of 8:45, there is no construction or road work going on — just some cones block the road and a couple of guys standing around…” Source: JJ
I actually noticed the cones and the orange drums on the sidewalk several days prior to the news. If I am not mistaken, a road repair will be begin at the Tonelle Circle (west) this coming Saturday, November 22, 2008. The cones that we see on the sidewalk are probably in preparation for the forthcoming construction.
When I drove to Journal Square (via said Blvd) this afternoon, I didn’t see any congestion in the area. The flow was actually smooth; as a matter of fact, I wasn’t able to press the brakes of my car to stop and take pictures of the cones and drums. (I was able to snap a photo, but it was crappy). I’ll update this post, once I have a quality pic, hopefully when I am not driving fast. :P
Dangerously yours, JSQ. :P
