The Community Food Bank of New Jersey – the state’s largest food bank – needs help. The bank needs more supplies/donations to meet the increasing demand for food across New Jersey.
Deborah Smith of Jersey Bites has started a blogging campaign which aims to get 100 bloggers across New Jersey to help spread the message about the plummeting supply of food in the Food Bank as the demands increase:
“We are scheduled to launch the “This Bank Can’t Fail” blogging campaign for Monday December 15th. The goal is to get 100 New Jersey bloggers on board to help spread the synchronized word about the increased demand being put on the food pantries in New Jersey and how everyone can help. It would be fantastic if you would participate…”
Well, today is the 15th, and so far, 116 (and counting!) NJ bloggers have published this campaign to inform their readers. So consider this entry as my version of spreading the words…
Want to help? Here are some of the things you can do:
1) Make a monetary contribution: Visit www.njfoodbank.org.
2) Donate food: Drop off a bag of food at your local food pantry.
3) Organize a food drive: The CFBNJ can help explain the logistics of starting a food drive. Just call 908-355-FOOD.
4) Look for the “Check Out Hunger” coupons at your local supermarket and donate.
If you are interested, watch the following clip. The 3-minute video shows the dire situation the food bank is currently facing rising demand for food assistance and a sharp drop in donations:
Riverview Observer blog listed down places in Hudson County where you can help. Make sure to check the ones under Jersey City.
