Even before the big economic recession hit the nation in the latter part of year, Jeremiah – the owner of The Greenery – felt his business was going downhill — fast. The photo above was taken last year (March 2008), and based on my conversation with Jeremiah, it seemed like he had pondered on shutting his business long before.
This is the front of the store now:
A “FOR SALE” sign is now posted covering the original signage of the store. On the front door (not in the picture), there’s another sign that says that the owner is retiring, and all items are on sale.
The store is located on Newark Avenue, north-east of Journal Square.
