The scaffolding at 2877 Kennedy Boulevard Building has been removed last Friday, but the canopy protection in front of local businesses (Cohen’s, Sneaker Square, Western Union, Jewelry Shop, Boulevard Drinks, etc) stays. If you’ll notice, the top portion of the facade has been stripped, so it seems to me that the renovation isn’t finished yet.

Chunk falls from 2-story Journal Square building
Tuesday, October 14, 2008A chunk of decorative facade fell from a building that is home to a string of stores at Journal Square in Jersey City Saturday afternoon, police reports said.
Police were flagged down at 2:26 p.m. Saturday by a passerby who told them a piece of the front of the two-story commercial building at 2877 Kennedy Blvd. had slammed onto the sidewalk outside Cohen’s Fashion Optical, just south of the Loew’s Jersey Theater, reports said.
The chunk was roughly 36 inches long and 5 inches high, judging from the space in the facade yesterday.
No one was hurt and a scaffolding canopy has been erected around the building to protect pedestrians in case more masonry falls, city officials said.
The building’s owner, Thomas O’Kane, said it appeared to be an “isolated incident,” but the scaffolding was put up as a precaution. City building officials said they are waiting for a report from a structural engineer to determine what caused the facade to crumble.
