Saw this sign hanging on the fence of PS-11. Flea Market at Martin Luther King, Jr. School happening on Saturday, April 30, 2011. Event opens at 9AM at the corner of Bergen Avenue and Academy Street. The weather forecast says it’s going to be good on Saturday (high-60′s) so come out and buy something!

9/11 Conspiracy Theory Film at Five Corners Library

If you are one of those who feel that there’s some sort of mystery to September 11 (9/11) terrorist attack eight years ago, you might want to see this film documentary at Five Corners Library this Saturday.

This event is sponsored by Jersey City Peace Movement, a group of activists that gather at the square every last Sunday of the month to promote peace.

Daniel Sunjata, the film narrator, will make a special appearance. Question and answer will follow after the film screening.

Jersey City Event: Navratri Festival in India Square

The Indian community on Newark Avenue will be holding their Navratri Festival this week and the following week. The streets will be blocked off and a stage will be installed. Expect cultural dances and Indian food until wee hours.

St. Joseph Festival Kicks Off Tonight

Tents and trailers were already in the parking lot yesterday (09/08/2009)

St. Joseph Parish (east of Journal Square PATH Station) will have a five (5) day festival that kicks off tonight (Sept. 09, 2009). Activities include food, games, 50-50 raffle, and much more! If you want to support the church and school, come to the festival with your friends.

Jersey City Arts: JSQ in JCFridays

Rainy and wet today, as we celebrate JCFridays in Jersey City. This quarterly city-wide event is the second this year, and the next one will be in September.

No individual artist, groups, or activists from Journal Square participated in the first one, but today we have three.

Jersey City St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2009 Photos

It was fun watching the parade in front of Journal Square PATH Plaza: I saw old friends and former students, and I learned more about Jersey City groups. It was cloudy though, therefore, it wasn’t a picture-perfect day.
