Here’s a welcome addition to Journal Square: Zeytinia Gourmet Market opens today (May 21, 2010) at CANCOlofts. The grand opening is set for 5 pm today with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Mayor Healy, Ward C councilwoman Nidia Lopez and others, as reported by the Jersey City Independent.

Jersey City Food: Kabab House in Journal Square

Kabab House is the new restaurant that replaced Salt & Pepper Grill just a few weeks back. The owner said Kabab House”s menu is still the same as S & P’s, but will change it in due time.

Farmers Market Last Year

Farmers Market here in Journal Square begins tomorrow – June 24, 2009 – on the square in front of the PATH Plaza Transportation Center along JFK Boulevard. This will run weekly until November 25, 2009.

Last year, Farmers Market included the following vendors: Dr. Pickle, Alstede Farm, and Baker’s Bounty. So if you’d like to get fresh produce, fruits, and vegetables, come to Journal Square every Wednesday.

Journal Square Biz: Tiffin Box Jersey City, Gone?

Tiffin Box on the Boulevard

So, does anyone know what happened to Tiffin Box on John F. Kennedy Boulevard? The sign says it is under construction, but I don’t know for sure if another restaurant/fast food will occupy this site.

Tiffin Box Jersey City started just last summer, replacing American Hero, which moved just across the street (next to Salt and Pepper Grill). I’ve heard mixed reviews about Tiffin Box, but it’s a shame it didn’t even last a year if they’re permanently closed.

FREE Kentucky Grilled Chicken

Do you like KFC? How about great deals, like free coupon? Do you watch Oprah? If your answer is YES to all, then you are going to like the FREE Kentucky Grill Chicken (KGC) that KFC is promoting right now.

According to the site (http://unthinkfc.com/), coupon is available for printing until 9:59pm CDT today (5/6/09) . Coupon is redeemable at participating KFC® locations in the U.S. from 5/5/09 to 5/19/09, excluding 5/10/09 which is Mother’s Day. There’s a limit of one offer per coupon, one coupon per person during offer period and it must be redeemed in person.

Act fast, I’ve heard/read news about some local KFC stores having problem keeping up with high demands. What do you expect? When Oprah talks everybody listens.

Unfortunately, the only KFC in Journal Square was long gone. It is now located on Communipaw Avenue. Call them at (201)433-1151 and if they participate in this promotion.
