Today is JCFridays – a day of FREE arts events around Jersey City. For Journal Square, we only have one participant for this event:

6pm-9pm 32 JONES GALLERY present “Taken Spaces: Black Lesbians Against White Aesthetics.” 32 Jones Presents new works by photographer Sherley Camille Olopherne. Jersey City Arts: JSQ in JCFridays

Rainy and wet today, as we celebrate JCFridays in Jersey City. This quarterly city-wide event is the second this year, and the next one will be in September.

No individual artist, groups, or activists from Journal Square participated in the first one, but today we have three.

3pm-7pm JERSEY CITY PEACE MOVEMENT presents “LIVING ART GALLERY for Peace and Justice.” Activists, artists and some of the homeless residents of Journal Square will form a “Living Gallery Wall” and hold pencil drawings created by local artist-activists. JSQ Snubbed JCFridays?

JCFridays is a quarterly city-wide event here in Jersey City, held on the first Friday at the start of every season. It is an exhibition of culture and arts in JC filled with fun and educational programs that are open for public. And this coming Friday – March 06, 2009 – is the first of four JCFridays this year.

Many artists, organizations, institutions, and establishments from various districts of Jersey City participate in this event, and last season, there was only one participant from Journal Square: 32 Jones Gallery

However, there’s no representative from JSQ for this Spring edition of JCFridays. I noticed that most of the participants are from Downtown, JC. Do local artists prefer to hold an exhibit in that area?

JCFridays is a city-wide culture and arts events participated by various individuals and groups. It is held every first Friday of the season.

For this winter edition of JCFridays, there is only one participant from Journal Square – 32 Jones Gallery. They will present “Pocket-Size,” a small works show by various artists. Any work sold can be taken off the wall and home for the holidays!
