Jersey City Elections 2009 are over, and the poll results show that Nidia R. Lopez convincingly beat Jimmy King (endorsed by Jersey Journal) for Jersey City Ward C Council. Lopez leads King by approximately 700 votes and collected more than 50% of the turnout, therefore, avoiding a runoff.

A couple of Journal Square election incidents made the news this morning. At Apartments Plaza polling location at 91 Sip Avenue (cor. Enos Place), there was “some confusion over the type of politicizing that is allowed”, news said. It was resolved and the election went through.

As you are probably aware of, May 12, 2009 is Jersey City mayoral elections. The other day, the Jersey Journal announced their endorsements for the city’s mayor and councilmen. Journal Square resident Jimmy King made the list.
