A Van Wagenen woman died after she was shot by a cop responding to a domestic dispute. What a terrible week for Jersey City as far as crime is concerned.

Police were called to the apartment at 87 Van Wagenen Ave. (Del: Map ) by the husband of the woman, said Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio.

When two police officers entered the apartment, they were confronted by the adult woman — whose identity wasn’t available — wielding a large kitchen knife, DeFazio said.

When the woman stabbed one officer in the hand, the other officer opened fire and the woman was hit with a number of rounds, he said….

Jersey City Crime: Robbery + Stabbing (Sip & Jones)

Stay vigilant even when you’re in front of your building, you never know when the criminals are going to strike.

The incident happened last Saturday (July 11, 2009) in the middle of the night. A 25-year old man was robbed and then stabbed in the abdomen for a loaf bread(!) in the lobby of his apartment (Sip Avenue and Jones Street | Map).

…The victim said he had just gotten home from work when three men attacked him in the lobby. They robbed a tote bag with his work clothes and a loaf of bread and stabbed him once in the stomach, reports said…

The three suspects fled in white SUV. These thugs are like vampires, they’re awake at night preying on unsuspecting victims.

Jersey City Crime: Stabbed to Death in Journal Square

Here’s another murder in Jersey City: A man (Manuel Reyes, Sr) was stabbed to death in front of his apartment, news said. This happened Wednesday (May 6, 2009) and he was pronounced dead at 9:40PM at his place at Pavonia Avenue and Van Wagenen Avenue.

If my count is correct, Jersey City has already reached the double-digit mark for murder this year. And in Journal Square, I think this is the 3rd or 4th stabbing and this is the only incident resulted to death if my memory serves me right.

After a late night dinner last Saturday, an 18-year old man from Vroom Street and his friend were assaulted at JFK Boulevard and Tonnele Avenue. The Vroom Street resident was stabbed three times in the back.

Do you know how many attacked them? Imagine this: around 20 males!

An 18-year-old Jersey City resident was stabbed three times in the back by a large mob after leaving a restaurant on Kennedy Boulevard Saturday evening, police reports said.

Police responded to a complaint of an assault at Kennedy Boulevard and Tonnelle Avenue Saturday at 11:47 p.m., reports said. Two victims said that they were leaving a restaurant and were jumped by around 20 males who punched and kicked them, stabbing one of them, reports said.

One of the victims, of Vroom Street in Jersey City, who complained of a sharp pain in his back and shortness of breath, had three stab wounds on the right side of his back, reports said.

The victim was treated at Jersey City Medical Center, where he was listed in a stable condition, reports said. The other victim, of 37th Street in Bayonne, had no visible signs of injury, police said.
