<p>So I got the chance to drive around at 11PM last night and noticed that it was probably the garbage pickup schedule on Bergen Avenue based on the amount of trash on the road. (Sorry for the crappy pic, that&#8217;s the best I can do :P )</p>
<p><span id="more-2438"></span></p>
<p>Papers were scattered on the ground and worse, a good amount were flying around as the strong winds blew through the night. Some plastic bags were knocked down to the ground as well, as shown below.</p>
<div id="attachment_2440" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 461px"><img src="http://journalsquarejc.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/bergen-av2-451x320.jpg" alt="" title="bergen-av2" width="451" height="320" class="size-medium wp-image-2440" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Bergen Avenue facing south</p></div>
<p>Fortunately, all these trash were gone in the morning. Photo below was taken at around 8:15 AM.</p>
<div id="attachment_2441" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 480px"><img src="http://journalsquarejc.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/bergen-av-morning-470x285.jpg" alt="" title="bergen-av-morning" width="470" height="285" class="size-medium wp-image-2441" /><p class="wp-caption-text">The morning after -- trash disappeared like magic.</p></div>
<p>All I can say is, the comparison is literally night and day! (pun intended)</p>

I&#8217;m not complaining about the trash cans around the Journal Square PATH Plaza. In fact, it&#8217;s good that Jersey City has installed bins 50 feet apart from each other. </p>
<p>In other areas? Find out by reading the rest&#8230;</p>
<p><span id="more-1561"></span></p>
<p>In other areas, there&#8217;s an obvious lack of trash cans as evidenced by the filth on the sidewalk. Try Summit Avenue between Newkirk Street and Sip. It&#8217;s equivalent to almost 3 blocks in length but there are only two trash cans available on both ends.</p>
<p><center><iframe width="425" height="240" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="http://maps.google.com/maps/sv?cbp=12,27.817676828705903,,0,5.800000000000001&amp;cbll=40.7286,-74.062661&amp;panoid=&amp;v=1&amp;hl=en&amp;gl=us"></iframe><br /><small><a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&amp;source=embed&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=&amp;q=summit+avenue,+jersey+city+07306&amp;sll=40.734283,-74.063044&amp;sspn=0.023023,0.038624&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;ll=40.74186,-74.055319&amp;spn=0.023024,0.038624&amp;z=14&amp;iwloc=A&amp;layer=c&amp;cbll=40.7286,-74.062661&amp;panoid=GTpTlAZu0-7TBe2NEBsHRg&amp;cbp=12,27.817676828705903,,0,5.800000000000001" style="color:#0000FF;text-align:left">View Larger Map</a></small></center><br />
for your convenience, here&#8217;s the street view of Summit Avenue starting from Newkirk Street. Move the arrow towards north to Sip Avenue and watch the left sidewalk. How many waste baskets do you see? </p>
<p>In my humble opinion, there should be at least 3 trash cans per side of a block: 2 on each corner, and one in the middle. If the sidewalk is longer, than add more cans if necessary. If the curb remains filthy, then that&#8217;s another story. ;)</p>
