I drove to Staples (Route 440, Jersey City) at 8PM last night and when I got back just before 9PM, I saw those white plastic bags sitting on our stairs. I noticed my immediate neighbors got the same thing, too. Did you get these yellowpages as well?

Honestly, I don’t use yellow pages anymore. With all these online gadgets (iPhone, Blackberry, etc) available to us, I wonder if there are people still using yellowpages.

As you are probably aware of, Journal Square is FIOS-ready. I saw a couple of trucks yesterday on Academy Street and the technician said they’re installing Verizon FIOS when I asked.

I was actually approached by a Verizon representative two weeks ago and was asked if I’d like to upgrade my service. Since I consider myself a “power internet user”, turning to FIOS would be a huge upgrade.

But how much is it going to cost me?

The representative was friendly and he seemed to know what he was talking about. He said that the internet alone costs $47. Combined with phone service (all features included: call waiting, caller id, international call, etc) it would cost $69.99 excluding tax.

The TV+phone+internet service is intriguing, and it seems cheap for $94.99. The representative explained that TV Channels offer more than 250 channels and most in HD. The customer can add more package is s/he wants for additional price.

Currently, I have sports (NBA LeaguePass) and international packages in my DirecTV, so I asked if it’s possible that FIOS would carry over my current contract. Unfortunately, Verizon FIOS would only be able to carry those channels when DirecTV is finished with their contract with NBA LP next year.

In the end, I figured it would be much cheaper for me to stay in my current services (basic phone, DSL internet, and DirecTV); but as soon as LeaguePass is over, I would switch to FIOS right away.

Do you have FIOS already? I would be glad to hear your experience about it.
